Tours
G’Day, I’m Rex!
Feral’s having a sleep, which is great because then the rest of us get to talk to you!
The Camel to Candlelight Dinner tour is fantastic. The camel ride is for an hour. It’s great to hear everyone “oooh” and “aaah” as they ride out of the bush and see the beautiful cottage where they are to have their dinner. They catch a glimpse of the candelabra and white linen and glistening glassware through the window, with the roaring fire in the background.
The very best part though, is when the chef comes out with a tray of champagne. As our guests dismount, they are handed a glass full of bubbles and they almost always like to stay outside to watch the sun set. When they do it’s easy to get them to give me a cuddle while they’re there. Check out a menu, it’s fantastic!
Please don’t tell anyone, it’s taken us camels years to build the aloof reputation that we have and if the world found out we all love to be cuddled we’d be laughed out of the animal kingdom….I’d better introduce Matilda before I give away too many of our secrets.

Hello, I’m Matilda, this is my friend Cody, he’s one of Graham and Jannene’s calves. I don’t care who knows it – I love cuddles! I really don’t know which Tour is my favorite, I love them all. I just want to get out there, into the beautiful bush. I love the scent of the desert, blown in from the north on a summer’s day, it mingles with the perfume of the gum trees as we pass by and just makes me feel alive.
There are so many amazing things to see; from red-walled gorges to the great expanse of the Wilochra Plain. I love that I get to see all of my friends, the kangaroos, emus, wild goats, goannas and sometimes I even get to catch up with old Eddie, the echidna who lives over near that big escarpment we travel under, he’s really old and a bit paranoid but he makes me laugh as he waddles along bristling out all of his prickles and muttering to himself.
I love the Sunset Tour because when we set off there’s a vast blue sky overhead, then the sun begins to set and the colours are so amazing that the kangaroos and wallabies all come out to watch too. By the time we get back, 2 hours later, I don’t want it to end.

I especially like the Ocean to Outback Tour. It starts with a cruise on a fantastic boat called Champagne, then a camel ride and some gourmet bushfood and then a lovely walk to learn about some of the bushfood - it’s fantastic!
The Full day tour is completely different but fantastic too. We pass right underneath Devils Peak, looking up at its weatherbeaten face always reminds me of how ancient the Flinders Ranges are. Sometimes there are water pools in the creek beds where I get to say hello to some of my Australian animal friends when they come for a drink.
The Half Day Tour is great too. Click on the buttons underneath and you’ll find out more about each tour. And you can either leave from Pichi Richi Camel Farm or from Adelaide.
