Hi, I’m Feral!

Hi I'm Feral, the most important camel around here.

Feral by name, not by nature!

I live at Pichi Richi Camel Farm, in the Flinders Ranges.  My friends Rex, Honey, Ibrisam and Scoozi-Please, she used to be a racing camel, all live with me.  There are lots of us here, we have human friends too; Graham, he’s a fourth generation cameleer, we let him think that he’s the boss.  Jannene, she does something Graham calls marketing, I don’t really know what that is, I think it means buying our food at the market?  Then there’s Cody, Malachi and River, they’re Graham and Jannene’s calves and they play with us all.  Together we all have great fun exploring this fantastic part of Australia, that we love living in. We’d love to show YOU too!

Imagine this ……..

About us montage

………..as you stretch yourself awake you glance out the window.  The sun is rising higher in an endless outback sky.  The smell of the arid landscape mingling with native wattle flower.  Kookaburra’s are laughing in the gum trees overhead, kangaroo’s nibbling at the edges of the garden.  What to do today?  There are so many things to tempt you……

………Explore ancient Aboriginal art sites, or the ruins of a once magnificent pastoral settlement - ponder both the success and hardships of survival in an ancient land?

…….Gaze in awe at one of the world’s most famous panoramic art gallaries, or look down at nature’s own panoramic gallery as you soar with the Wedge Tailed Eagles over spectacular Wilpena Pound?

……..Watch dolphins frolic in the wake of your cruise to the tip of Spencer Gulf, or be swallowed by a giant serpent and explore primordial forests?

……..Wander in the cool shadows of ancient gorges in search of the endangered Yellow-footed Rock-wallaby, or drive the Corridor Thru Time, a geological journey in the heart of the National Park?

……..Perhaps you should return to that gorgeous little cafe for just one more native peach pie, or maybe you could just spend the day exploring the fantastic bush food experiences around town?

……..Of course, these decisions are all awaiting you after you have had the adventure of a lifetime with us at Pichi Richi Camel tours, on a Camel Safari or perhaps a Camel to B-B-Q dinner, surrounded by the amazing Flinders Ranges.  Proclaimed one of Australia’s first National Landscapes the Flinders Ranges is one of the world’s oldest and most majestic landscapes.  The Flinders Ranges begins just an hour’s drive north of Adelaide, South Australia’s capital.  Meander through the picturesque Clare Valley, don’t forget to sample a wine or two on your way through.  Continue north through hamlets such as Laura and Stone Hut, on to Quorn.  Located in the heart of the Flinders Ranges, Quorn is the perfect base from which to explore this ancient mountain range.  There is so much to see and do, all less than a day’s drive from Quorn.  So check out our amazing Rides, Tours and Safari adventures, then stay a while and really get to know some of the locals!
